Personally, I think their set sounded great.
Brooding, caustic NYC metal band Tombs covered a faithful, if not slightly heftier, version of David Bowie’s “Heroes.” To my ears, it’s got a little bit of that shadowy Joy Division sheen that Tombs favors so much, but the thing that gets me is vocalist/guitarist Mike Hill’s genuine emotive power.
There’s also a version with a verse howled in German by Ralph Schmidt (Hëllström, Planks) over at Ghettoblaster, which commissioned the covers.
Decibel’s flexi series would be so much cooler if they gave us MP3s because flexis suuuuuuuck. Still, can’t complain about a new Tombs track.
