Out of time and out of earth, The Glinting Spade is a droning, deep pagan folk record by In Gowan Ring. Released in 1999, Bobin Eirth’s debut predates the milk-eyed menders of the mid-aughts by several years (not to mention the Chelsea Wolfes and King Dudes of now). I had completely forgotten about it until Opus pointed out the vinyl reissue and Bandcamp stream. This music is easy to get lost in, if you’re looking to get lost.

After engaging so deeply with Glenn Jones’ stunning new record — this here’s the latest video, a banjo ditty with Laura Baird — I think it’s finally time to watch his Things We Used to Do DVD with Jack Rose. It’s been sitting on my shelf a few years now and I haven’t been able to bring myself to it, yet. Still get choked up thinking about the Philly tribute show that featured some clips way before the thing came out.

I have some busy weeks ahead, but one night, it’ll be me, the DVD and a bottle of whiskey.
