For the last few years, I’ve been a sometimes-DJ for Procedure, an experimental music night held in the basement of Saint Ex in Washington, D.C. In fact, Procedure’s organizer, Mark Williams, gave me my first DJ gig here. But all things must come to an end and after about 10 years, Mark’s ending Procedure with a final blow-out on August 30 featuring a bunch of its rotating DJs. Expect a little bit of everything on the experimental spectrum — from Throbbing Gristle and Can to Ornette Coleman and Gas — as the premise behind the night has always been up to interpretation.
