There’s a lot to process in Stagnant Waters’ “Of Salt and Water”: the dive-bombing corkscrew synths, the melancholic Deathspell Omega-like chord voicings over industrial rhythms, Norwegian vocalist Svein Egil ‘Zweizz’ Hatlevik’s schizo vocals, the comically over-the-top blast beats over synth strings a la Cradle of Filth (it’s a good thing!), and just a general sense of blackened, animalistic insanity. The self-titled album comes out Oct. 29 on Adversum.
