The Return Of True Metal? →
Not entirely thought-out, but fodder for conversation at least, especially in light of recent editorials about NPR and Pitchfork not spotlighting traditional/power/shred metal (some thoughtful, some needlessly name-calling). I actually like some of this music, but haven’t given much ink to it (more on that to come).
My main question (and something I’ll be thinking about): If “true metal” is actually on its way back (some would argue that it never left), then are the defenders of the “true metal” going to get upset when “think pieces” in the New Yorker and, yes, NPR and Pitchfork, start showing up? Need I remind y’all of black metal’s rise in the last decade?
